IMAP

Internet Message Access Protocol. Used to access e-mails on a server, this cuts out the need to download them onto your local hard drive. The user can access and read their e-mails on any computer they like as the emails will remain on the sever until they are downloaded.

Impression

The term for when a web page is displayed. One user can create many impressions, but a unique impression is the first time they view a page.

Intranet

An internal internet, normally used by large companies and accessible only by members of staff with the correct access permissions.

IP Address

The Internet Protocol address is a number used to identify a computer that is connected to the internet. Every device has it's own unique address when connected. The address itself is comprised of four numbers seperated by dots, such as 12.34.56.78

ISP

An Internet Service Provider is a company that provides you access to the internet, such as BT Broadband, Sky Broadband, or AOL.
