IMAP | Internet Message Access Protocol. Used to access e-mails on a server, this cuts out the need to download them onto your local hard drive. The user can access and read their e-mails on any computer they like as the emails will remain on the sever until they are downloaded. |
Impression | The term for when a web page is displayed. One user can create many impressions, but a unique impression is the first time they view a page. |
Intranet | An internal internet, normally used by large companies and accessible only by members of staff with the correct access permissions. |
IP Address | The Internet Protocol address is a number used to identify a computer that is connected to the internet. Every device has it's own unique address when connected. The address itself is comprised of four numbers seperated by dots, such as 12.34.56.78 |
ISP | An Internet Service Provider is a company that provides you access to the internet, such as BT Broadband, Sky Broadband, or AOL. |
